Forestry Experience

Beginning in 2016 I worked for a very small contracting operation doing work for West Fraser Mills in Williams Lake, BC. In my relatively short time, I was exposed to many different aspects of forestry; pest management, fire management, fire fighting, cruising, to name a few.

Roughly a quarter of my experience has consisted of cruising, of which over half the time I've assumed a head-cruiser role, cruising over 1750 plots.

I've also spent months at a time in camp working on laying out remote blocks that required a 20+km mainline to be laid out in order to access timber. This permit included daily quad rides of 40km and long hikes in untouched terrain.

Overall I've laid out dozens of km of road for block access, and in block harvest structures, and a couple of thousand hectares of timber ranging from low-quality pine beetle salvage to high-quality partial retention fir blocks, mule deer winter range patch selection, and herringbone skid trails and of course clearcuts.

I'm excited to keep expanding my experience in the forestry world.
